Color me dumb, but does the DOJ really instruct criminal defendants that they will be charged? Does it take months / years to charge? The Feds began criminal charges within days of January 6th. Why would it be years, since the incident, and months since being told (allowing him to live freely and the ability to seek exile or flee or go on the lam)?
